Use Cases

How teams use SMIN, in the real world.

From single-geologist juniors to multi-asset producers to government surveys — six stories that show how SMIN cuts weeks off the drillhole-to-report loop.

Junior Exploration

From first drillhole to maiden JORC resource in 6 weeks.

A single-project junior explorer on a West African greenstone gold prospect used SMIN to ingest 12,000 m of RC drilling, model implicit grade shells, run Ordinary Kriging estimation and publish a maiden JORC 2012 Inferred Resource in under six weeks. Zero on-premise software, one geologist, one consulting CP sign-off.

Mid-tier Producer

Standardising resource estimation across 4 portfolio assets.

A mid-tier copper producer with four operating assets in South America and Africa consolidated four different desktop stacks (Datamine, Vulcan, Micromine, Leapfrog) onto SMIN. Estimation methodology, block-model geometry, classification rules and reporting templates are now consistent across the entire portfolio.

Mine Engineering Consultants

40+ pit optimisation studies in one calendar year.

A boutique mining consultancy shifted their internal pit-optimisation practice to SMIN's Lerchs–Grossmann engine. Study turnaround dropped from 3 weeks to 4 days; sensitivity sweeps across 12 revenue factors run in under 20 minutes.

Iron Ore Producer

Real-time reconciliation between plan and production.

An Indian iron ore producer connected daily blast-hole assays back to the block model via SMIN's API. Reconciliation between planned and mined tonnes / grade is now monitored on a live workspace dashboard, cutting reconciliation loops from monthly to daily.

Government Geological Survey

Public-domain block models for regional prospectivity.

A national geological survey used SMIN to publish public-domain regional block models for lithium and rare earth prospectivity, downloadable in GSLIB and 3D-viewer-ready formats. All interpretation is fully reproducible from the raw dataset SHA-256 hash.

University

Teaching mine planning to 200+ postgraduates.

A leading mining school integrated SMIN into their MSc curriculum. 200+ postgraduate students work through a real-world gold deposit from drillhole ingestion to signed report — without paying legacy per-seat licence fees.
